Speaker 1:

Welcome, welcome back to the garden state outdoors and podcast presented by boonex hunting. I'm your host, mike nitre. I'm frank mastica, it is just the two of us. Today we had ourselves a whirlwind. So turkey talk, segment a, and well, basically segment b recap, because you only got out for e-week, right, it's for, yeah, saturday of e-week, correct? Um, peyton and I got out for that. So we're going to save that for when peyton's on and and tell you guys everything that that we went through with that situation. But we're gonna break down today's hunt. This is not gonna be a long episode, but I poured myself some, some whiskey that I, I need it and I think you know frank will definitely agree.

Speaker 1:

Like, how it played out for the both of us was kind of identical in two different states. Yeah, well, I guess you know I'll start it off. Um, it was the foggiest day I think I've ever hunted in my life and usually I'm not really hunting at this time of the year and we, you know I'm not. I've never taken turkey hunting seriously and this year it has all come together and I'm having, first of all, a absolute blast. But today was like the, the peak. So I hope it's not the peak. But we're right there at that peak, we're at that. It's fourth and inches right now from from the goal line. Like we're, we're right there. And you know I, I actually I should really start it from yesterday's hunt, um. And you know, I, actually I should really start it from yesterday's hunt um, peyton and I went out yesterday and I mean we, we bumped a bird off the roost and then we just saw no, before that, we three we had three different gobbles one coming from across the river, one from, you know, behind us and, I think, one to the right. So I think at least three. And so I got right. Like you know, we we've been on birds, you know the whole season, like that's not our problem, we've been on birds. But this was I think we saw six to eight hens during this hunt. I mean the hex is working great. I will. I will tell you like this last couple hunts will will definitely prove that this thing works, because we had hens at like 10 yards.

Speaker 1:

I mean peyton literally said that like he could see the eyeball, like perfectly, and like she didn't get spooked by us. She actually got spooked by our decoys. She did not like her decoys. Yeah, yeah, it was. I guess this spot has been pressured enough and people have been running decoys a lot that she saw the deco. The minute she saw the decoys you saw her head. She went like this and then she was just looking up and then turn her turned away and just put it away, um, and she worked herself with another, uh, hen hen out in front of us to the right and then we saw a bunch more, a bunch feeding. It's a big open field and it went really well.

Speaker 1:

And then, roughly around 10 o'clock we heard a gobble. Both of us were like, we looked at each other. It was like all right, and you know we were doing calling. We didn't need to do much calling in this spot. We really this was more of a, a wait and sit type of hunt style, like we played it very conservative because we've been very aggressive every hunt we've been, you know, five to six miles, hiking and moving spots and finding different birds and everything like that. This was we sat and it was definitely different and the reason is because of just the trail cam footage that we've had. You know, we we've had, like what I'd say, six to eight shooters like just beautiful toms.

Speaker 1:

We had a, a double bearded bird. Um, I imagine he's probably shot by by now or somewhere else, but, um, hopefully, not, hopefully, not hopefully. Um, but you know this, this gobbler came right in, um, peyton thought he was going to come from behind us and peyton and I, I was sitting here and peyton was like 10 yards, like behind me kind of, and I, the way I got down was I was right up against a tree, which was perfect, but it it went down a little bit so I wasn't at elevation, I wasn't at ground level, I was a little below and I scooted myself down because there was just like tall grass and it had me completely like camouflaged. But that's where the bird came from, like maybe 60, 60 yards, maybe 70 yards, somewhere in there out, and it I couldn't take the shot, like I just saw the head and yeah, usually like oh, look, that's good and every time. But it seemed like a far shot and I could only really see the head if I wasn't looking down the sights and I just picked my head up a little bit. So I decided not to shoot and he only had to take maybe three steps to clear and you know a few more of that to get into like good, good range. Um, you know that 50 would have. I would have poked him at at 50 if I, if I had like a clear, clear shot, but his head was bright red. So there is something that he just did not like at all and that was it. Like he just turned around and just spooked and we believe, yet again, the decoys. We think he saw the decoys, didn't like the decoys because he didn't see us. We were undetected, we were completely fine, and I think he just yet again saw those decoys and just got out of there. No luck for the rest of the the day. But when you see anywhere between six to nine turkeys, you know one beautiful gobbler and everything like that, like that's a win in my books and you know, absolutely for being a new new into the whole turkey hunting, I mean I, I've come a long way now.

Speaker 1:

Today's hunt, oh man, today's hunt was crazy. So I step outside and I noticed it was it stormed last night, it was humid, it was muggy, um, but everything was wet and I literally texted a group. I go, today's gonna be the day like you gotta be in those fields, like they're, they're gonna be in those fields. So I got to the, got to going to be in those fields. So I got to the, got to the place and what I decided to do was not to just go straight in, because I think where the birds are roosted is where I've been, where we've been walking in. So I played it slow and you know, I started walking in but I would stop, take a couple minutes, walk some more and by the time shooting light was coming up and it was starting to get that gray light, the birds had actually already gone down, maybe like I think there were like yet again like eight turkeys in the field.

Speaker 1:

By the time I got there I bumped another one, yet again walking in, but he flew, actually he or she flew right into the field and I'm probably about 150 yards away and I just hear him just going crazy, right, and I was like, oh my God, like I couldn't believe it. So like I'm getting ready, you know I'm'm I put my mask on, you know my mask on and my gloves on, and you know I start doing a little bit of calling nothing too crazy and he gobbles. It's great. But I noticed he wasn't coming in. So I was like, all right, let me, let me get to the to the field. Let me get to where I was basically sitting yesterday. There's a little drainage and I saw him and I was able I think the fog helped me, the fact that it was so early and the fact that he was just preoccupied belly, crawled, got into the drainage. I have mud like literally all over me, like I look like I was in the trenches of like a war zone, you know, after today's hunt, um, and I got and I was able to peek up behind the tree and everything. I see him. He's just right there. I see hens all over the place. But he was wit too and he was actually, um, I don't think I dropped the video, but I'm going to be dropping it tomorrow. Um, so by the time this episode comes out, you guys are going to see it.

Speaker 1:

He was mating a hen when, right when I got there, like he was already doing, that was 555. So that was yeah, yeah, because what? Sunrise, wasrise was 5.58, and then Sheldon Light is 30 minutes before that. So somewhere, you know, right at the beginning, he wasted, they wasted no time and they got into that field like right away, and I just see him doing his thing and like.

Speaker 1:

At first I wasn't sure and I had him lined up. I was like what does he do? He like he's been standing still for way too long, like what is he doing? Yeah, and I was like you know, I feel like he, he's, he's mating right now. So I crept up even more, I got a little closer and this is now.

Speaker 1:

I'm finally right where I was basically yesterday and I got some cover in front of me, set up the camera. I'm filming a little bit. I'm thinking he's about 50 yards out and you know he does this thing, you know he's strutting, you know he's just a beautiful bird and then all of a sudden he just starts going this way. And I don't know if I just got nervous or whatever the case, but the the calm and patient way where I should have played it because I had the whole entire hunt and I've really now looking back at it he wasn't going to leave, but I guess I didn't want him to get out of range, so I lined it up, took the shot. Now it was more than a 50 yard shot, it was probably in that 60, 65 yards, because when I watched the video it actually, when I put it on the big screen it looks like it's on, but it just drops like either right, like right in front of him or like maybe just like the very bottom or like the feet area. Yeah, yeah and ah.

Speaker 1:

He just took off and I just, you know, yet again, just adrenaline kicks in and I just, you know, let off a, let off another shot, let off another shot, and he flies across the river. The hens all fly away, everything like that. Now I didn't think I hit him, but I wanted to make sure and it was actually the best decision, because I went to the field, looked all over, went back to my car, drove to the other other side, hiked into the field and I found tons of sign and I was like, all right, like I'm gonna go. You know I can't find him, you know it's still foggy as hell, like I looked all over the place. So I back out, go back to the spot I was just at and by the time I got back there there were a couple hens like cruising, right where they were yesterday. That would have passed where me and Peyton were sitting, yet again, just like 10 yards away.

Speaker 1:

I decide to, after talking to a bunch of people, I grab my camera and I actually booked it and went a different way out um trying to now avoid that, find a different route in and try to avoid where I think they're they've been roosting at. You know for another, for another hunt. Um got back to this other spot now across the river, set up a camera and then I just went scouting like I sell sign everywhere, just just tracks everywhere, poop everywhere. I've never had this much luck and success scouting or doing anything that I that I've done this year Like everything's new finding the sign by myself, uh, the poop, um, peyton's, uh, kyle and Justin have been big helps uh through my through the last couple of years and doing these turkey talk episodes and just learning from people and you know, pete put down the basis for for this area and then me going, being able to go over and finding more sign. And actually I found another bird hole all the way across on the other side of the property.

Speaker 1:

I think I got just under seven miles today and when I tell you, I finally got that feeling that Justin was talking about when you're so close to a bird that you just feel the vibrations. And that's exactly what happened to that. Frank almost had this. A crazy scenario, maybe what 30, 45 minutes after? Because I called you not long after, so let's get into your. You know whole situation, frank yeah, no.

Speaker 2:

So uh, yeah, it was probably about half hour, 45 minutes, I would say. Um. So I got there. Basically, I think I got up there at like 4.20ish, so I got dressed, I parked my car and I decided to set up. So our property, we got fields and then we have woods and then there's a power line on the top. So I decided to set up where I saw, where I had actually a close encounter last year with a beautiful bird I just set up wrong.

Speaker 2:

So this time I set up completely different and, um, put my decoys out, started calling nothing for like the first and probably I would say I don't know 20, 25 minutes. And then I hear two gobbles off to my right way down the power line. They were like on the other side of the field. So I'm like, all right, well, least I'm, I'm getting some action. Let's just wait it out, we'll see what happens. Um, so I waited a little bit. I I stopped calling for a while, um, nothing. So I was like, damn, like, should I, should I move, should I not? Because then I started calling, no response, nothing.

Speaker 2:

So I was there, probably, sitting there for probably about an hour and I was like, all right, maybe I should get up and go, because on the other side of the power line actually I was actually going to go down the power line we have another neighbor that just tilled his field and there's always birds out there. I said maybe I should go check over there, get set up and start calling over there as soon as I go to move. I go to like I'm yeah, I think I grabbed my camera just to like reposition it to get my stuff. I turn my head and what you know freaking. All of a sudden I look and there's a big Tom just staring me down, came in super silent. It was him and I believe it was like three Jakes were with him. I was like, oh, you gotta be kidding me.

Speaker 2:

So as soon as he saw me, he started to not run fast, but he knew something was up. He knew something wasn't right. So he ran a little bit and then he stopped. So I quick, I moved my camera. I grabbed my gun. I had to turn it on because I didn't even turn. I'm running the True Glow.

Speaker 2:

So I still got to turn the dot on. I still didn't even have it on yet the dot on. I still didn't even have it on yet. So I turn it on and I'm waiting for him and I I see him coming out from behind the tree and I think I just let them. You know, the nerves get the best of me. I made a rookie mistake, obviously, but it's not that he wasn't in range, he was only probably about, I would say probably about 40 yards. Yeah, but I just. But, looking back at it, I mean he wasn't going to go anywhere because he stopped. So he stopped to. You know, figure it out. I think maybe the hex had something to do with it, because he, he didn't run fast, you know, he, he ran a little bit just so he can get like behind a tree. Then he kind of took his head out, took a look and I just I was like it's in my mind, it was like now or never, which I don't know why. I felt that way same thing here.

Speaker 1:

I don't know why, and I think the the season that it's the first. It's like you do that kind of with deer season too. It's like, yeah, you get all when, when it's the first one, or it's your first hunt, like it takes a stride to get into when you're that close to a deer, a gobbler, like you just got to remember to breathe, and like you've been there before and and everything like that and it's. I've been hearing a lot of people missing this year. Like a lot of people. I think we're up to like seven or eight different uh stories of just, you know, people missing shots or not being able to retrieve their birds or anything like that. Um, listen, turkey hunting is no, it's easy. It's. It's way different than deer. Like, yeah, if it was deer, we would already have deer on the ground. Like, oh, absolutely 50 or 60 deer in the two weeks of turkey and we're not even done what week two. Like yeah, seem like yeah, roughly about 50 or 60 yeah, yeah, I saw a bunch today too.

Speaker 2:

But uh, I just I couldn't believe that. I did that because I watched him. He flew like I only got one shot off. Then I seen the jakes fly, you know they flew the other way. So, um, I still went to go check. I checked because he went towards, like um, the neighboring properties field. So I went, you know, because I were really close with the guy.

Speaker 2:

So I went and I checked out there, nothing. So I was like all right, you know, I must have missed them. So I waited a little bit more, called a little more, nothing. So I was like all right, I think I'm gonna get in my truck. And because we own two sides of the road, I think I was like I think I'm gonna go try the other side of the road. So I left my bag where I was originally sitting. So I went, I went to go grab my bag. As I pick up my bag I look and I take a couple steps, there's three jakes standing probably 20 yards away from me. Have no idea I was there. I mean I could have shot him at any time, but I mean they to me they only had like two, three inch beards, you know something like that. So I was like nah. I was like you know, I could get one right now.

Speaker 1:

I was like but nah you know, yeah, but yeah, you're going back to saturday. You know you got plenty of time, so it's the first day of the season exactly.

Speaker 2:

So I was like all right, so I walk. So I walk all the way down the power line, I get my truck, I drive around our property. As I'm driving around, I see another Tom in our neighbor's field, coming on, you know, to our field, and I'm like oh shit. So like I fly home, I like park, I like threw the truck in park, I jump out. You know, I grab my vest. I didn't grab anything else, I just grabbed my vest, grabbed my gun and I like beelined it up our um, like up one of our fields, and then we have um like a small strip of woods. So I go there and I could see him. He's walking like the fence line and I start calling, calling, and he, he, he turns and he looks, and he looked a couple of times but he was like he wasn't having it, like no, I'm not interested. So he ends up just turning the other way. He goes, you know, he starts going into the field, going the other direction, goes. You know he starts going um into the field, going the other direction. So I was like all right, I was like well, since I'm up here, let me go check. You know, let me go back onto our power line on the other side and start calling there. So so I I get set up again and I could see there was four birds out in the field now. There was one tom and I think, and I think there were two hens and a Jake out there, and I believe the Tom was him, though. So I start calling and same thing they're looking, but they're not coming, they're not answering Nothing. So I was like all right, like shit, all right, we'll just wait him out, I'm just gonna be quiet. So I stay quiet for a little bit, and then I hear like the neighbor. I hear the neighbor start calling, so he must have seen them. And as he starts calling, coming out of our woods, lets out, I mean a huge gobble, he's super close. But now he's like he's behind me. So I'm like, oh shit. So I turn around, I pick a different tree, I get set up, I set my camera up, then I start calling. When I start calling, there's four of them and they get all fired up. They're gobbling, but they're super close.

Speaker 2:

I was, I was pretty confident, I was, I was about to get it done and all of a sudden, just complete silence, nothing. So I was like all right, let's, you know, just wait a little bit, I'll stay quiet. Waited, waited, didned, waited, waited, didn't see them, didn't hear nothing. They stopped gobbling. So I start letting out another call. And now they gobbled again. But now they're like they're super far away, they start going the other direction and I was like, well, that sucks.

Speaker 2:

I was like, all right, let me make an aggressive move. So I start. So that sucks. So I was like, alright, let me make an aggressive Move. So I start. So I go around and I'm trying to get In front of them. I start and you know Cause I kind of was thinking this is they're gonna go, cause there's Like a cemetery across the road and they always love to go In there. So I'm like they're Probably gonna go over there. So I circle Around and I try to get in front of them and I'm calling, calling, nothing. So I don like they're probably going to go over there. So I circle around and I try to get in front of them and I'm calling, calling, nothing. So I don't know if they probably beat me to it, but for some reason they were up there. They were dead silent until about 1030. Those four got all fired up and then nothing again.

Speaker 1:

You're on mute Mike oh, man, yeah, uh, it's just, it's just one of those things. It's like we can't get really any any closer to, you know, getting a bird down than than this. So you know, I'm I'm taking, is it? Listen, this is already a win in in my books. You know, um, for everyone. You know we're having a good time, like we're, we, we're really enjoying ourselves. It's a different pace than than deer season and you know what, after this, there isn't, there isn't anything for us to really do except for get ready on deer season. So, like I'm really enjoying this, I'm already gonna, I'm getting my C week already for next week and everything like that, just because, like man, we're, we're, we're, we're just, we're just there, you know, and I listen, I, I told you in the car. You know where we're talking. I think you're gonna get it done um, this weekend. Um, you know one of you guys will you?

Speaker 2:

know somebody will. I hope so vermont friday.

Speaker 1:

So peyton's going to vermont friday, I think steve will be out saturday. I unfortunately cannot hunt this weekend, but I'll be out some point next week. Um, okay, and then you're gonna be back in in upstate New York, um, yep, so I it's, it's bound to happen. It's, it's bound to happen. And you know, when I it was funny because, like when I didn't have four gobblers pop out but I had a beauty like a this sound like a huge, huge Tom the prints that I was finding were the tracks and everything like that it was insane. So, like I originally heard him but I couldn't pinpoint. Like he gobbled once and it was in the distance but I couldn't exactly pinpoint it. So I tried calling back. Nothing. So like, all right, like I think I know where I came from, I headed to the exact area where I thought it came from. There was a big field there and I looked in. You know nothing. Like you know, I tried calling and everything like that, just just nothing. I'm looking around like all right, like okay, he's not here. So I start going down a little bit and you know, there's this patch of woods that has a little clearing, but it's all. It looks all like thick stuff in it. So I was like, ah, it's like I don't, I don't think he's there.

Speaker 1:

So I headed back out and I continue to just walk. I went down a little bit and, you know, found more, more turkey tracks and, you know, found a bunch of nice fields and everything like that. I'm like, all right, there's, there's definitely a bird somewhere here coming, you know, at some point. But I look at my, my phone and I'm like, all right, like let me, let me start winding down, because this was only supposed to be a scouting mission. Like let me, you know, I finished my, my hunt. I took a shot, couldn't find the bird, I don't think I hit him. So I was like, let me just scout that. Like that was the whole basis brought the gun just in case. I didn't even bring the camera, I didn't bring my main camera Right, and just all of a sudden I'm, I walk all the way back, I pick up my backpack and I'm about to head out and just another just gobble, just rings off.

Speaker 1:

So I'm like, oh, this one sounded closer, it sounds like the same area. And so I just get right back into a you know a row and I'm looking at the corner of the field and I'm hiding behind grass and everything like that, and I start calling and this time he's responding to the calls and he wasn't cutting me off but he would, after I'm done calling a couple seconds, he would, he would just call right away. Now he was moving around, I could tell, because the call just kept going just back and back and forth, right and it it was one. I believe it was one time. So now we're looking at it's between 11 o'clock I got one hour left between this time he gobbled anywhere between, you know, between 15 and 30 times, like he was screaming his head off, but he wasn't. He was hung up. So I walked back the same way.

Speaker 1:

I went into that first field where I initially thought he was. You know, I'm taking, you know, a bunch of steps and I'll stop and I'll call, just because I didn't want him to just be silent and just like come to me. You know I wasn't 100 percent sure if he was with hens or not, so I wanted to play it safe. But I also had to go set up somewhere, I think, just a little closer. So Nothing, I continue walk, I'm continuing that and I get to that field right. So it's, it's like a nice little walkway and it leads right out into this big open field. I get to like the edge of the walkway and I just I put my stuff down, I'm like, all right, like he's somewhere out there. Let me just call um, I could stay safe, like he won't be able to see me. And when he comes this way, you know, the minute he gets into my view I'll be able to blast him.

Speaker 1:

Before you know, before he sees me, all of a sudden, like right after I called, he just fires off right behind, like he was behind me, to my left, just a gobble, that might. I can feel my ears are like vibrating, like everything's vibrating. That's how close he was and he, he must have been right over by that other little opening that I didn't like, where I saw a thicket and everything like that. He was right there. So I just turn around and I'm, I'm gobbling or I'm, I'm calling just a little bit, yet again, not getting too aggressive because I'm not the best caller in the world, you know, I'm just doing the little bit and he just shuts up.

Speaker 1:

So what I do is I, I just I move into so I can get a better shot angle. I just move, you know, a little bit, and I set up right where I have a nice window of that little tiny little opening and I'm sitting there. No, I'm not not calling out anything, I'm just sitting there, got, got the gun up, everything like that, and I think it's him walking out and here comes one deer, here comes two deer, here comes three deer, right and and they're working and they're feeding and I, I think I sent you guys a video on my phone because, yet again, I didn't bring my camera and you could tell one of the deer was staring at something I don't know, and if it was him, you know a hen or something like that, but the, literally the deer, you know how it's, like you're doing the head nod of the deer to that Like they're not sure what it is. Now, I'm not sure if there was, if the bird was in there, but I'm, I'm, I'm pretty confident, like that he was and yeah, like it. Just the deer finally went off and he turns out, he, he was in there and like, just like a little further. He was going like away, right, so the hens were moving one way and he was just following the hens and I just didn't have have didn't have enough time, like if there was more time. Because next thing, I know I looked at my watch and I think we're at like 11 55. Yeah, yeah, you were on them the whole time. Yeah, yeah, and I didn't, you know, we, we can't, you know, I didn't can't stalk them. So it's like all right, like I just got to kind of just sit here and just, you know, wait, I'm also not going to blow this. I didn't want to blow the hunt and do something where I make a mistake and you know the bird flies off or something like that. You know what, like live to fight another day. So, just like you know the lived lived to fight another another day. So, just like you know, the last few minutes I just snuck out.

Speaker 1:

I think the hex did a, a phenomenal job. Um, the deer didn't notice, notice me, didn't see me, and it wasn't like this. But I wasn't the last setup, I wasn't. It's kind of out in the open. Even pain says you know, that's not, you don't have the best cover. But I, I put it to the test. And even Kyle, he was like dude, put it to the test, like go be a little more aggressive, don't, don't worry. Like if the hex, you know he goes, it's gonna work. Just move like very, very slowly. Yeah, don't do anything crazy. And that's what I did.

Speaker 1:

And you know that bird, he didn't run off, didn't fly off. He, he was in there, he was just, he was just hung up. And it's funny, I must have, I must have missed him, he. We must have been around each other, I think, multiple times. Yeah, and I was very surprised that he was just in there, just because of how it wasn't the thickest thing I've ever seen, but it was thicker and higher up than I was expecting a turkey to be in there. Um, granted, there's a bunch of fields and everything over like that and I don't know what it really. I didn't go in, so I don't, I didn't know what it really looked like. It probably could have cleared, it must have cleared up a lot more than what I was able to see, but from where I could see it, it was definitely, definitely like something you wouldn't expect and you know it's.

Speaker 1:

I'm happy, like, I'm not gonna lie, I didn't kill a turkey. Today I finally shot at one. I had a learning lesson. It's like when I was deer hunting all over my first shot at a deer I just completely just missed. Like you know, it's I feel like that again and it's it's so fun and so so cool. And you know I'm not over analyzing everything, like I'm just taking the baby steps of scouting. You know finding the correct sign, which was a, a key, and then you know listening to the birds and and you know doing minimal calling, but it's, it's been a blast yeah, no, absolutely.

Speaker 2:

because even even with me, like, um, you know, I, even though I shot, I missed, I know it was my error, I, I could fix that, you know, like, so I know I should have just slowed down because, again, it's almost like you said before, that man, that hex stuff man, because I was wearing hex and he didn't go far and I should have thought, been thinking of that, you know, before I took the shot. But I mean, I mean, mean, even with those jakes, it was the same thing. I mean I walked up, you know, within 15, 20 yards, they, they never knew I was there and he's, this is open woods so, yeah, no, I'm, I'm very impressed with it.

Speaker 1:

In the first two weeks of of hunting with it, um, I, what we have is very lightweight too. Now it's, yeah, a week I mean it was below freezing. So, like, we're layering the hell up and you know, I'm still wearing somewhat of layers, like I just have my my sick uh base layering on underneath, um, just to start out the morning, just because I just never know how the morning and once I'm already dressed, all right, I'm not you know I'm not doing so like I took off certain layers and everything like that. But very impressed like the, the layer that that they sent us. I mean that I can't wait you, you could just wear for early season on those really hot, hot days. Oh, it's perfect for that as you're getting into the cooler weather. It's so thin and so lightweight that it's not even like you could put it underneath all your layering. You could put it under you, over underneath whatever you need to do, and it's it's going to work.

Speaker 1:

The gloves I actually like the mask At mask. At first I didn't, I'm not a big mask person and I don't know yet what I'm gonna do when I get back to bow hunting, um, and or if I start bow hunting, you know turkeys or whatever, because I don't like having anything on my face, I usually, if I do, I usually pull it down because I just like, I'm just so comfortable when I'm anchored and everything like, I just like what I like to do. So we'll, we'll see what the planning is with that. I know they make a couple of other products but I'm kind of interested to see and test out as well. But so far, very successful start to turkey season without having the success of killing a bird no, absolutely it was a.

Speaker 2:

It was a hell of an opener for new york state, that's for sure.

Speaker 1:

So you know it's just the beginning for up there, so I'm excited yeah, definitely, definitely, um, yeah, I mean, like I said this, this was going to be a short one. We wanted to do things, you know, just talk about today's hunt and then also try out the new streaming service that we're going to be using. Obviously, you know, when you guys listen or whoever's listening to audio, we're going to be using StreamRard, probably from now on, and I'm loving it. I mean, I love the view that I'm getting from from the cam. It seems much more clear. We haven't had any breakups or anything like that that I've noticed, and there's a lot of editing and design work that we get to do for when we do YouTube, instagram, everything like that.

Speaker 1:

So we're going to definitely have some fun with this. Yeah, so we're going to be dropping some fun with this. Um, yeah, so we're going to be dropping this. It is going to. We're going to be dropping this on sunday. So on tuesday, we're actually going to be releasing our gilly puck episode. Uh, we are very excited for for that episode. That was a fun episode.

Speaker 1:

I think that was just you and I, frank, right yeah, that recorded, yeah that that was a cool one and I really, I really wish I having you know doing the wedding stuff. I really wish I was able to get in my order of the the ghillie puck before, because I think it would have been a very useful tool. That, yeah, I don't. You don't even have to worry about being in the brush, like you could just sit on the corner of the field right outside and just boom, put it right there and that and the hex I think is going to be a money combo.

Speaker 1:

Oh, absolutely it's going to be a great combo, um, so we're excited for that episode to drop. Um, anything else, we, we, your, your merch, you know, you're, you're, you're selling merch. We're going to be doing a photo shoot soon for the website. But if anyone's looking for um merch from frank, you know just you're, you're, you're selling merch. We're going to be doing a photo shoot soon for the website. But if anyone's looking for merch from Frank, you know just DM, dm, dm him, jesus long day. Our merch will be made available soon. His will be too, as well. We will have, like I said, shot glasses available. We'll have our stickers available, we'll have sweatshirts, shirts and we still have some hats left. We will be doing new orders and and getting new stuff as as time comes along.

Speaker 1:

Um, any, anything else that we got to talk about. I, I don't think so. We, we, I know we have, uh, we, we felt we've recorded a great episode yesterday. Yeah, that was really that one. I, really, you guys are going to look really forward to that. Um, trapping one with with autumn, because that was that blew my mind. There there were. I can't wait to trap, can't wait, absolutely. Me neither, um. So, yeah, I think that's gonna think it going to wrap this up for this episode. I'm trying to think off the top of my head right now. We're just hunting.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, no, I mean, it would have been really cool if we could have doubled up today.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that would have been fun. Two states, that would have been awesome. Two different states, yeah. But you know what? Hey, maybe Saturday the guys have a bunch of success and you, steve Peyton.

Speaker 2:

You might do?

Speaker 1:

three states. Who knows, that would be even better. Maybe we're saving it for that. And then, you know, hopefully the Squatch man can get it done on Sunday or the next day that he's going out, and oh well, I know that this episode will be dropping after, but Frank and Squatch are going to be on Instagram live on May 4th. Um, unfortunately, this episode is going to be dropping on the 6th, I believe, but I imagine, um, there might be some more to do. You know, we're we're going to be coming out with different ideas. We got the game show coming out and Jesus the end of May, so we're really looking forward to that as well. And you know, starting that next chapter. And then, you know, deer season is going to be right back around the corner again, so we're going to keep hammering away at the turkeys and then it's on to deer season. So, guys, thank you so much for listening to this episode and we'll see you, guys, next time.
